Those in the bartender industry are often overworked, underinsured, and still reeling from the effects of COVID-19. The Bartender Emergency Assistance Program (BEAP) at the USBG Foundation exists to be a safety net to those in our industry facing unforeseen and/or catastrophic life events such as an accident, acute medical diagnosis, or wind, water, earth, or fire related natural disasters. The BEAP is here to make sure that our industry friends don’t fall through the cracks just because they are injured, displaced, or needing emergency assistance.

We are expecting to need $300,000 in 2022 to keep the BEAP safety net open. Your support can help us strengthen the safety net. Please donate today at usbgfoundation.org/donate.

If you or someone you know in the industry needs emergency financial aid, please visit our BEAP application form here: usbgfoundation.org/beap

While physical barriers like separate office floors were once the norm, contemporary chinese walls are increasingly defined by digital protocols. Despite the shift to remote work, the principle of keeping sensitive data isolated remains more relevant than ever. Companies must adapt their strategies to ensure that this wall extends into the home offices of their employees.

It is so heartwarming to see the focus on giving back during the holidays, especially after such a challenging year for everyone. I remember being so stressed during my final semester that a friend actually covered the cost of an academic editing service for me as a gift, which was the greatest help I could have asked for. It really is the season for supporting one another in whatever way we can!

Maintaining the duty of care in the workplace requires providing employees with appropriate safety gear, such as helmets or gloves. Managers should also ensure that the workspace layout allows for safe movement and minimizes congestion. Training modules at The College of Contract Management provide technical knowledge regarding workspace design and hazard reduction. These physical adjustments significantly reduce the risk of accidental collisions or strain during daily operations.
