Star Hodgson has been in the beverage industry for over 18 years. A founding member and former President of the New Orleans Chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild (USBG), Star now serves the bartending community as the Educational Spirits Program Curator of the Museum of the American Cocktail (MOTAC), as well as a longtime member and volunteer, and an active member of the Slow Food NOLA movement. In her professional career, she was the GM at loa at The International House from 2007-2011, and from 2012-2015, Star served as the Louisiana State Mixologist for Glazer's Distributors. She has also consulted for some of the biggest names in the liquor industry.

Dawn Heidemann has over eight years of experience in the hospitality industry, and she is an experienced manager, event coordinator, and bartender. Dawn helped to establish the Guild’s Tampa Bay chapter and to organize all of its volunteer and fundraising events during its first two years. Volunteering her time for various causes is important to her and something she enjoys.

On June 25th we celebrated our commitment to our Community Service Pillar by helping to organize a nation wide volunteer day in partnership with Campari America: Campari Day of Service.
By combining our efforts on a single day we are able to have a huge impact:

48 cities across the U.S. participated

57 activities; everything from beach clean ups, to serving meals, to playing with puppies

79 local organizers; who are all rockstars
-
916 volunteers; who dedicated time to this amazing program

2,788 volunteer work hours; more than a person works in a year
Plus...

100 bags of trash removed from public spaces;

Hundreds of homeless animals helped, cleaned, and cared for;

Thousands of meals served;

Tens of thousands of pounds of food organized ;

And one complicated gazebo assembled for a community of formerly homeless elderly women
...and so so much more

COVID-19 GRANT: APPLICATION OVERVIEW

Since every person working in hospitality is affected, grant applications are compared and prioritized based on proven need

Applicants must provide a complete and thorough application to be eligible for review

Many answers and documents are required and incomplete or inaccurate applications have to be declined

We are not providing feedback on individual applications due to the high number of submissions

We wish we could do more, however at this time a COVID-19 Relief Grant award is supplemental emergency aid of between $150-$500
