USBG 75th Diamond Jubilee Conference: Call for Speakers

The United States Bartenders' Guild (USBG) is seeking Presenters to share best practices, ideas, and innovations that will benefit attendees from the bar, beverage, and hospitality industries during the USBG 75th Diamond Jubilee Conference that will take place at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, August 13-16, 2023. The educational seminars offered during USBG Conferences remain one of the top reasons our members attend each year.

Seminar submissions are being accepted for the following categories:

  • ADVANCED BARTENDING – These seminars are industry-driven and designed for bartenders of all levels, focusing beyond the introductory level. (Don’t be afraid to geek out!) Seminars under this track could include spirit category exploration, history, cocktails and trends, techniques, methodology, or career possibilities beyond the bar.

  • LEADERSHIP – These seminars focus on general leadership related to business and chapter operations. Seminars under this track could include general leadership, chapter finances, fundraising, membership, general chapter operations and governance, social media, marketing, volunteer management, event planning, and management, or opening a bar.

  • SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Seminars in this track focus on diversity and inclusion, interpersonal violence, stress recognition and management, and other health and wellness-related issues that affect the hospitality industry.

What is Needed for a Seminar Submission?

To ensure you are ready to submit, make sure you have a brief synopsis of your seminar/workshop/topic, a detailed draft of your presentation, know your audio-visual needs, and estimated cost/fees for reimbursement (if applicable). Each speaker will have ONE HOUR to present their topic, including Q&A.

  • Presenter contact information

  • Seminar title

  • A brief synopsis of your seminar

  • Detailed draft of main speaking points and key takeaways or presentation slide deck

  • Brief presenter bio

  • Presenter headshot

  • Presenter's social media handle

When designing your seminar, tailor your presentation to the audience. Remember that USBG members are dedicated professionals and will likely ask detailed questions. Be creative, thorough, and informative. Many attendees will be USBG Chapter Officers with a few years of experience behind the bar; however, some will be new to the industry. Make sure your material can relate to both.

If your presentation includes a brief tasting of your brand(s), please refrain from presenting a consumer-oriented marketing presentation. These bartenders are accustomed to detailed descriptions of products for which they expertly create cocktails. We recommend explaining the production process (raw material, fermentation, distillation, maturation, bottling, etc.), any pertinent brand information, history, and Q& A. *Tastings are limited to three (3) one-ounce samples/cocktails.

*Please note that any seminars with a tasting component MUST be sponsored (At least a Gemstone Level Sponsor + $1500 per seminar add-on). For more information about sponsorships, please click here to schedule a call with Sheila Rosario, Director of Development.

You will be contacted after May 1, 2023, to let you know if your submission has been accepted and to confirm that you are still available to present over the conference dates.

Do you want to sponsor a seminar but don’t have a topic to present? Please contact Sheila Rosario at srosario@usbg.org or click here to schedule a call to discuss this option further.
